[[ here goes... updates for year 2008 ]]

it took me 10 months to update this weblog.. i was tied down abit with other more important things..

at last, i did find the time to be glued to the computer for hours, just to fill in this part..

this may be my last time updating events in mansoura.. i will retire soon inshaAllah.. i wont be in mansoura anymore.. my studies here for 4 years has ended.. finally! alhamdulillah..

and so i preserve some of the wonderful & scary memories here in this weblog.. other bad memories will only stay in my mind.. for i never intend to expose any aibs thru the internet or to anybody..

for the meantime, this weblog will be the source of info about living & studying in mansoura until there is another mansourian who is more creative appears and continues with a different approach in giving out updates on the singapore students in mansoura.. that person may build another weblog or even a website.. wallahu'alam..

at this opportunity, i would like to apologise for any mistakes in giving out infos & updates in this weblog..

also, forgive me dearest mansourianz if i have not assisted you well throughout my role as the mandubah in mansoura.. i did try my very best to satisfy every party.. believe me, its not that easy..

and lastly, wishing all the best to the next new generation of mansourianz.. May Allah grant you STRENGHT & PATIENCE in upholding the teachings of Islam lillahi Ta'ala & only for His Redha.. :)

[ mansourianz performing for muslimah day in cairo ]

we would like to thank our sisters in cairo, the organisers of muslimah day for inviting us to perform.. initially we didnt want to coz we had no idea on what to perform.. but for frens' sake, we agreed to give it a try ;)

so for only a week, we practiced.. we came up with a song, taken from mawi's song but we changed the lyrics abit.. so it sounded like this..

kami pelajar alazhar. kuliah di mansoura
jauh kita dari semua kawan. sedih berjauhan~
tapi kita cuba tahan. dan juga sesuaikan
hidup di mansoura. utk ijazah dalam genggaman~

aku sedar~ siapa diriku. aku dah tahu~ apa hadafku~
aku sedar~ dan merasa mahu~
aku sgtlah mahu~ pencarian ilmu~

sungguh!
langsung tak pernah marah walaupun sekali seakan memahami
langsung tak pernah kesal dgn ketentuan, menjaga pahalaku
lansung tak pernah sedih menunjukkan benci pada bi'ah disini
buatku tak pernah akan pernah menyesal menuntut ilmuNYA

and also, we did a sketch.. its called nur ukhuwwah fillah.. its interesting.. must i tell the whole story?.. fuh, my fingers are tired.. i dont plan to type it all.. if u wanna know, juz ask anybody who had watched the sketch on that day.. that, if they remember :D

and yeah we did abit of dancing.. we juz love to dance.. its a pop yeye dance for that muslimah day.. but we can do more~.. ;) seriously..

[ bazar asean in mansoura ]

every year the malaysian student body in mansoura (dpmm) would organise a bazar.. there would be stalls selling books & food.. and every year the singaporeans in mansoura would only be consumers.. we wouldnt miss it.. coz there're lotsa fooooood.. varieties.. but we're not fat ok.. alhamdulillah..

but this year (2008) we juz felt like renting a stall.. we felt like selling instead of buying.. and so we did.. we got ourselves a stall and a list of food to sell.. we came up with shabsuka, mashed potato, fruit chocolate fondue, custar wrap, roti john & macaroni..

so, how did we fare.. alhamdulillah, not so bad for amateurs.. its a 3days bazar.. we made a huge loss on the first day but after a thorough observation, some fast calculation & abit of business skill, we revived on the second day and made a quick profit on the third day.. and what's the secret to that?!?.. seriously i forgot.. sorry..

but from start, our main intention was to test our skills in business.apart from that, we wanted to strenghten our bond by giving cooperation & support towards each other in this shared business.. and lastly, we needed the money for gamaah :D

by the way, our stall was given the name, wehdah singapore..

[ Outing with frens from alex & cairo ]

once in awhile we had frens from alex & cairo coming over to mansoura.. we would show them around mansoura.. if they stayed longer, we would bring them to dumyat or port said which are quite near to mansoura..

port said is like a shopping heaven (for clothes).. cheap stuffs.. at times branded but not original.. lotsa seafood there.. u must know how to go about inorder to find good stuffs there..

as for dumyat.. its where u can find majma' bahrain, where the river meets the sea.. thats the end of the long stretch of river nile.. its awesome really.. river meets sea & both dont overlay each other.. i alwiz feel like scuba diving & go in between em'.. but havent got the chance to do so..

[ Eid Celebration in alexandria ]

this year, the mansourianz decided to celebrate their eid adha in alexandria with other fellow singaporeans studying there..

our alex sisters were great & fun.. we had dibaei.. 'samrah' ;) .. some weird dances.. chit chats.. scrumptious local sg food.. and ukhuwwah.. thanx all alex babes, we had joy & laughter :)

our deepest appreciation to the hosts (faizah,umairah,fairuz,farhanah & huda) who gave us a place to stay in & received us warmly while in alex.. jazakumullah kheir..

[ Birthday celebrations ]

some of us celebrated our birthdays in egypt.. specifically in mansoura.. as each mansourian's birthday got closer, the other mansourianz began to crack their brains..

first : on what birthday gift should we get her.. we began doing research on what item she has her eyes set on recently.. or her item of interest..

second : finding a good & affordable place to dine-in on her birthday or finding good food..

third : brainstorming for a creative way to celebrate her birthday..

The new gift from Allah

the name happymeal has been given for the project as it consisted of everything. alhamdulillah, the activities in it catered to our mind, body & soul...

at bait singapore, dirasat mansoura egypt

we started of our first day with khatam alquran

next was dissemination of topics to everyone.. they were given different titles and were asked to do research on them, after which they would have to present..

giving tazkirah.. practicing in giving of speech..

relax abit with games.. they were put into a group of four and competed in plenty of games..

teamwork game.. (haaa nak campak kat mane tuuu..)

more teamwork + creativity (uuu dasyat.. sampai duduk2 atas orang smue.. ni namenye nak creative punye pasal..)

work the brain and IQ (dah main2, skrg blaja plak.. soalan2 umum ttg alquran, usuluddin, shariah dan lughah)..

they have to answer correctly inorder to earn bullets for the following game which is jengjengjeng..

focus.. focus.. focus.. BANG!.. hit the target.. learning how to focus and find accuracy..

zikrullah.. time for qiyamullail cum solat hajat before exam..

Allahumma yassir lana umurana waballigh maqasidana waqdi hajatina birahmatika Ya ArhamarRahimin.. Amin..

we ended the first day..

the next day, we started of with taking studio pictures and and eating in restaurant cappuccino at gadelah mansoura..

then we proceeded with the rest of our activities at bait singapore

singing together the arabic qosidah.. ya badratim ya badratim.. ryhana & miftah danced the arab style of zapin.. lululululululu weeeee..

next was getting into pairs and designing motivation posters for every partner..

prize presentation.. everybody's a winner..

the finale was badil hadaya (exchanging of gifts)

done with final exam.. waiting for result is more stressful than the exam itself :) however, we have discovered something that can release a bit of our tension.. time to pamper ourselves with the following.. (the advertisement will be in malay)

both in cairo & mansoura.. the people doing these are malaysians and they are well-trained and qualified.. for queries, juz call us..

waaah.. for a moment here, it really feels good..

This is not fair for us :(

the killing incident's aftermath.. we've been discriminated.. the wafidin (asian foreigners) in mansoura.. this can easily happen to us because mansoura can be described as a village, compared to the big and overly-populated city, cairo.. in mansoura, only small quantity of egyptians live here.. they are like country folks.. living together peacefully.. that's how they see it although arguments among them happened all the time..

some of the egyptians around us looked at us as if every asian has the tendency to be a murderer just like the malaysian guy who had recently killed his own countryman.. their eyes observed us in suspicion..

a number of us had been yelled at with accusations like "wafidin kullu wihsyah" means, asian foreigners are all brutal and "wafidin mush kuwais" means foreigners are not good.. they said these out loud infront of the public.. and some of our friends had been thrown things at them.. and kids cried when seeing us.. wallahu'alam what has been told by their parents about us.. so on and so forth..

fortunately the murder case involved only both malaysian students as the suspect and the victim.. we cant foresee if the victim was to be an egyptian, we will be more in trouble although we have nothing to do with the case..

this is not fair for us..

if they are afraid of us, we are more afraid of them.. there were so many and worse cases involving them being unjust to us.. too may to be listed.. isnt that right my fellow foreign azharites?!?.. but since we are in their country, we cannot say and do much.. we can only pray for our safety..

i write this out of frustration.. we had come all the way here to study.. thousands of miles away from beloved families.. we have hopes and only good intentions..

such rare case meant to happen in order to wake us up.. some might ask "how could an azhariy do such a thing".. dearest all, that azhariy is a human juz like everybodyelse.. humans dont need to be a malaysian or an egyptian or a singaporean to be devilish and bad..

crimes happened everywhere and by all colours.. but their masterminds were the devils and their own nafs.. at times, humans are more cruel than devils.. and why?.. coz they are being led by their own nafs.. and nafs are wilder than the devil..

dearest families, friends, azharites.. please make doa for us..

we accept this as our challenge and obstacles along our journey to seek this pure knowledge.. we accept this as a ticket for us to be near to Allah.. we accept this as the key to raise our darjat (level).. we accept this to be loved by Allah and Rasulullah.. we accept this with an only hope for mardhatillah (Allah's redha)..

and we can only hope for your prayers for us here in egypt.. may Allah give us the strength and patience.. may Allah care for us all the way..

with this, we only return to Allah and seek His forgiveness..

Arihnaaa waqulubanaaa Ya Rabb..

p/s: if discrimination from the kuffar hurt us.. what more from our own brothers in Islam.. come to think of it, discriminations are everywhere.. and why are we still living as if life in this world is eternal..

Tragic news from mansoura

its been awhile now since i last updated this section.. we were all busy with exams.. final term for semester 2006/2007.. full concentration on our books.. Subhanallah.. sejuk perut ibu-ibu kita heheh..

so, our exam started in may and ended in july.. almost 2 months.. woah.. we have lotsa subjects, if u're wondering why that long..

stressful?!?.. hey, who doesnt?.. even primary one kids nowadays (especially in singapore) know the term 'stressful' ;)

our exam didn't ended simultaneously coz we came from different majors.. shariah, usuluddin, qiraat etc.. but i was the first to finish.. that was 2 days ago..

2 days later, on the 14th of june 2007, something happened in mansoura where we rarely heard of such tragedy and never happened before to any asian student..

so this was the first.. the most eerie, scary and morbid case..

a malaysian alazhar student killed another..

i wont include any pic here so as to respect almarhum's family.. although some may think that it's ok..

so, what happened actually?!?.. the motive of the killing has not been fully revealed.. it's still under investigation.. we heard too many versions of the story.. some are exaggerations.. even in the newspapers could be seen errors in describing the incident..

but the main fact is as follows:

the victim, muhammad bin ishak was alone in his rented house at suq dirasat mansoura on the 13th of june around 7pm.. he was infront of the computer when the suspect suddenly strike the victim from behind with 3 different knives.. one of the knives was a meat cutter.. the suspect slashed the victim more than 10 times (other reports say 60 times) including his head, eyes, neck and other parts.. he was severely injured.. he then ran to the balcony for help.. some egyptians at the nearby suq saw him and rushed to his aid.. by then he had lost too much blood and was unconscious.. he was then rushed to the hospital and the suspect was held by the police.. the victim regained consciousness at about 10pm and when asked, why was he being attacked? he answered briefly "the boy's crazy".. few hours later, he was pronounced dead.. the victim's a third year alazhar student majoring in usuluddin tafsir..

are we too young to die? do we still think that we are spared more time?.. have we grasp enough knowledge?.. are we being complacent?.. Ya Rabb please forgive us and guide our intentions and actions..

alfatihah ila ruhi muhammad bin ishak.. Allahummarhamhu wa'afihi wa'fu'anhu wajma'hu ma'ash shuhada' wassolihin waghfirlana..

may Allah bless his soul and may he be united with the shuhada' and among the solihin.. for muhammad bin ishak was in the state of tholabul 'ilm (seeking knowledge) at his time of death.. may Allah forgive us all..

Loving the Spirit.. Go Mansourianz!

we were informed about a netball tournament.. it'll be on the 17th of march 2007.. the battle between cairo, alex and mansoura.. we were'nt too enthusiastic about it but we felt abit of excitement within.. to try out.. althou most of us had no idea what netball's all about.. some of us even, never handle a ball before..

so, we've no experience.. we've little time.. we've no place to practice.. BUT.. we've the most important thing.. that is, THE SPIRIT ;)

it's difficult to find a wide space for us to practice.. we ended up borrowing our malaysian neigbour's balcony which was on the 5th floor of a building.. it's not very spacious but we could still move about.. the problem was, we had to make sure that the ball didnt go out and fall down below and hit somebody's head ;)

our first match was against cairo junior.. they were tough and fast.. we didnt think of anything.. we just played hard.. we won with 2 goals to 1.. it was a fair fight..

we got into final and met cairo senior.. they were professionals.. tougher than the first.. we didnt expect anything.. "if we win this, it'll be a bonus.. but for all i know, we had won.. so get in there and do your best.." said the GA to boost the team's morale..

we lost in the final to cairo senior.. so, we got 2nd.. the feeling was great.. it was still a victory to us.. Mabruuuk Mansourianz..

hey.. not bad for first timers eh.. ;)

btw, we could hear the boosting cheers from all teams before they entered..
we heard CAIRO! from team cairo.. also ALEX! from team alex..
but ours was ALFATIHAH!.. the truth is, there was a doa.. it's like this..

NeverEnding Mansoura Story

hmmm.. i juz did some checking and had noticed that i've been promising to update this section since november 30th 2006.. that was like more than 3 months ago.. and now, there are so many things to post up in here.. i have no idea where to start.. olrite, im doing this slowly.. first, wanna do some fingers-flexing..

in the previous few posts, i'd mentioned bout the newcomers of elmansoura.. well, they are no longer newbies.. 6 of them have settled down in 2 new rented egyptian-type apartments which were named bait munshaliza and bait nouraan respectively.. and the other 2 moved into bait singapore..

I wouldnt want to drag since this will be the longest post ever.. so, let's take a glimpse at the following pictures along with some captions.. pictures speak louder than draggy-words ;)

Again, I'm back to continue posting more pics..

this time it's a gathering after finishing our exam.. time to relax our mind and busy our stomachs ;) whatelse if not a day out together to cookdoor in gamaah.. TO EAT!!

Alhamdulillahillazi ath'amana wasoqana waja'alana minalmuslimin..

Done eating.. our next destination was the nearby metro.. it's almost maghrib when we finally decided to end the day with relaxed brains and contented stomachs..

but we had a problem.. couldnt stop any taxi.. "dirasat!" we yelled everytime a taxi passed by.. but none stop.. we were getting tired and worried that we would be standing there until maghrib.. "dirasat! dirasat! dirasat!" still no taxi.. wow, we were like doing zikir dirasat.. eventually one taxi agreed.. ok, 5 of us rode in it..

the remaining 7 were still at the road side.. we've waited for almost an hour or more.. if only we could call a cab.. wouldnt it be easier.. never mind.. this is jihad for tholabul 'ilm.. we still didnt get a taxi but a tramco took us.. it's packed with passengers but we didnt care.. as long as it got us back home.. althou we were like playing squashing game.. an arab girl was sitting on my lap and she was bigger than me.. i couldnt feel my toes heheh.. what an experience.. we felt relief upon arrival back home..

'Patriotism'?

the singapore students in mansoura were discussing on an attire for a hotel reception..
"mesti sopan, menutup aurat dgn sempurna dan nampak formal ;) " Ya Salaaam.. so, what's the occasion?.. well, our president SR Nathan was scheduled to visit egypt and the embassy had invited us for the reception.. that means, free hotel food! woohoo.. errrmmm.. dat doesnt sound patriotic hmmm.. orite then, lemme me rephrase that.. that means, upclose & personal with our president! woohoo..

eventually, we decided to wear all-black.. elegant!.. here are the pics

our only singaporean couple in mansoura, ustazah khairunnisa & her hubby ustaz abu dzar.. mansourianz looking patriotic, standing infront of the 2 flags, the simbol of economic&political ties or whatever it symbolises as.. mansourianz having hot discussions among themselves.. didnt look like gossips.. yaya's face was serious ;)

Alhamdulillah.. we are now free from the first half of exam.. the plan is to update this event section as soon as the exam finishes but, it cannot be done yet.. and why?.. there are so many other things going on that need attention..

1) the ma'radh

2) sinai excursion

3) getting car license

4) get together with frens

5) around mansoura excursion

and all the mansourians are travelling back to cairo.. thats what we love to do.. we travel.. it is sooo easy to travel from mansoura to cairo.. to alex.. to tanta.. to zagazig.. to dumyat.. and yeah, some of us have been to all these places.. we just need to pack our handcarries and vroooom.. we're gone.. elsewhere..

rite.. so, this event section must wait a little longer.. but it'll be updated.. soon.. after we are contented in doing the chilling stuffs.. so stay surfed ok.. and yeah, please leave your mesage at the tagboard.. thanx

by the way.. to our little sisters, miftah&ryhana.. haf a safe journey back to singapore.. may you feel at ease getting warm welcome back hugz from your beloved families.. but hey, dont forget to return here.. by then, we will have so many stories to tell about.. the trip and everythingelse heheh.. no worries.. you'll get your chance soon.. just dont keep on mentioning what you guyz have eaten or done in singapore.. gggrrrrr..

Dilahirkan & Kembali ke pangkuan Ilahi
di Bumi Mesir

hari jumaat pagi tanggal 8 disember 2006, telah kembalinya Ainul Mardhiah ke rahmatullah.. anak comel yang baru berusia 2 tahun telah dianugerahkan kepada sepasang suami isteri yang merupakan rakan seperjuangan kami di universiti al-azhar mansoura..

berita yg mengejutkan kami utk kali kedua.. sebelum ini adik kembar ainul juga telah meninggal dunia sejurus setelah keluar dari kandungan ibunya.. anak lelaki kembar itu telah dikebumikan di mansoura..

ibu ainul yg lebih senang kami panggil dgn nama kak pah sangat mengkagumkan.. begitu juga ayahnya yg dikenali sebagai ustaz rizal.. mereka berdua masih kuat menghadapi ini semua.. kami telah menyaksikan sendiri keadaan ibunya yang hanya boleh menatap wajah ainul yang bersih, pucat dan layu sambil memeluk lihaf.. sekali sekala terdengar sedunya.. ketiga-tiga anaknya telah dilahirkan dgn perihnya di bumi mesir ini, dgn teman-teman seperjuangan disisi, tanpa keluarga kecuali ibu ayah mereka.. dan akhirnya amanah dan anugerah yg sementara itu telah diambil semula oleh Allah S.W.T di tempat ini juga..

anak-anak kecil ini belum lagi sempat menjejakkan kaki ke tempat asal ibu bapanya iaitu malaysia.. mereka belum sempat lagi bertemu dgn keluarga yg sgt menantikan kepulangan mereka..

ainul meninggal dunia kerana sakit.. tiada siapa yg menduga demamnya anak kecil ini akan mendtgkan maut..

kami dari bait singapura tidak mampu utk berkata apa-apa.. ainul sentiasa terpahat di hati kami.. senyuman dan tawanya pernah suatu tika dulu menghiburkan ahli bait kami.. sebagai teman yg sama-sama belajar di bumi mesir ini, kami hanya dapat mendoakan kakpah dan ust rizal.. semoga Allah memberikan kesabaran dan ganjaran yg melimpah dgn berkat kesabaran mereka..

Mereka sgt dicintai Allah kerana telah diberikan ujian seperti ini.. kehilangan akan terasa sebentar sahaja di dunia ini.. InshaAllah, anak-anak kakpah dan ust rizal akan menjadi pemberi syafaat di akhirat kelak.. dan moga ainul akan bersatu semula dgn ibu ayahnya yg tercinta di syurga yg kekal abadi..

dan kami.. hanya bisa mengharapkan yg Allah juga mencintai dan sentiasa meredhai perjalanan kami disini..

WebBlog Facelift and Updates

Our blog has gone for a surgery.. a minor facelift.. It still looks the same but abit of its structure and contents have been reconstructed and updated.. and is still undergoing few construction.. New names have been inserted in *mansourianz* section.. For the past 2 years, we only have 6 singapore students studying in Mansoura.. but now the quantity has increased to 14 students, including 9 newcomers..

And so, with warm opened hands, we welcome these 9 new sisters of ours.. Ryhana, Miftah, Nadirah, Dalilah, Munirah, Aishah, Zahiah, Liyana, Khairunnisa..

May Allah give us strenght to persevere.. grant us patience and wisdom to survive in this pure journey to seek knowledge for the sake of Allah..

There are alot to be written in this section *events*.. but time and other priorities have limited us to do so.. InshaAllah as soon as we are given the time and opportunity, this section will be filled with plenty of useful Infos and updates..

Attention to NewComers: How to reach us at present

We've received news that they are quite a number of new students opting for Mansoura this upcoming semester.. We are very glad to receive them.. So as not to keep anybody in the dark, we will include our brief updates here..

From Fushah to 'Ammiah

how interesting living with different kinds of races and nationalities.. an opportunity to explore their cultures, languages and of course.. FOOD.. ;)

but for now, we dont wanna talk bout food.. althou that sounds scrumptious.. yeeeaaah.. mouth watering.. but hey.. life is not about eating.. coz we eat to live.. not live to eat.. puhleeaazzeee..

so we wanna talk bout language.. why language?.. coz its an everyday thingy.. we converse everyday.. juz like food.. we eat everyday or is it every minute?.. hmmm.. naahh.. eating moderately is the key to staying fit, healthy and gaye idop sihat (cam iye2 je bebual)..

the first time when we arrived in egypt.. quite having the confidence.. we'd learned arabic while in madrasah from our blessed asatizah and we thought that it's time to practice that language with arabs in general.. "okok here's one arab girl".. ehem ehem (clearing the throat).. "assalamualaikum.. kaifa haluki.. ma ismuki".. the arab girl responded in enthusiasm.. "waalaikumussalam.. hibbah.. 'amel aih?.. ismik aih?".. uhhuh.. why was the language suddenly sooo foreign.. why was my mouth instantly formed into a huge 'O'.. :-o "ooohhhh".. I had no idea..

i should have realised that they're not using arabic fushah.. that was arabic 'ammiah.. so what's the difference between both?.. to make it simple.. it's like when you say in proper english "I wonder why you are here".. that's the fushah.. and the 'ammiah will sound like this "how come you are here eh ahpek".. got it?

but picking up 'ammiah is not a problem.. you dont need to concentrate on the nahu (grammar) or anything.. you just need to have the courage to speak and be laughed at.. you really need that 'ammiah to relate with these egyptians.. and yes, we've tried fushah with them and most of them were like.. "are you talking to me or are you reading the quran?".. but of course, we are trying hard not to lose our fushah.. the fushah arabic language is extremely wonderful.. juz like the words in the Quran..

besides arabic lang.. we have other languages as well.. not really other languages but more to lahjah (loghat).. like in the building we're living in for example.. all are malaysians except for us.. there are from kelantan.. orang-orang utara kedah.. terengganu.. pahang.. negri sembilan.. KL.. selangor.. etc.. so when we say in malay fushah "kenapa awak tidak memberitahu saya".. the 'ammiah will sound like this.. heheh.. behold.. this will be very interesting..

singapore= "apasal you tak blang me eh"
orang utara eg.kedah= "awat hang tak habaq kat cek noo"
kelantan= "bakpo mu tok royak ko kawe"
indon= "kenapa kamu gak bilangin ama saya"
others= "nape awak tak bagitau saye"

seeeeee.. very interesting rite.. :D

ok.. sat nanti cek sambong noo.. udah capek nih.. malei nak kece' byk.. later i continue lah.. 'ashan ba'din fi waqt inshaAllah.. (mixed sentences in 'ammiah.. isshh rosak2)..

Films for Thoughts..

who says that you cant learn anything from films.. we watched films here although seldom.. and most of them made us ponder..

we're not refering to films with no moral values or lessons in them like "dude where's my car".. that was a stupid film.. i didnt finish it up..

what about x-men?.. can you actually gain lessons from it.. a matter of fact.. yes.. on MUTATION.. it happens in reality.. not that wolverine exists or storm has to do anything with the global warming.. humans grew wings and sharp utensils.. walking refrigerator and stove (iceman and pyro ;p).. etcetra.. those are exaggeration.. the film was adapted from a comic by the way..

but what i'm getting at here is that.. mutation is happening in our real world.. mutations of the foods we consume.. the animals which were slaughtered and then eaten were given injections.. even innocent tomatoes can get to the size of an apple.. everything was made, not born..

that's the reason why there are so many weird diseases nowadays.. even diseases got mutated.. scariieee.. hmmm.. if we are eating those mutated animals and vegetables etcetra, does that make us mutants.. wow.. that is cool.. but not growing feathers.. that's errrmmm euuwww freaky..

ok.. other lessons gained from films.. uhhuh.. hindustani films ;) what about them?.. try watching an hindustani film entitling "B.L.A.C.K" starring amitha bachan and rani mukherjee.. there is something about this film.. its about a teacher tutoring a blind and deaf girl.. her parents thought that there's no hope for her to become human since she acted like an animal.. the teacher proved them wrong and managed to guide her to college where she studied for 20 years to get a diploma.. normally it takes 4 years.. and so she studied and flunked.. studied again and flunked.. 20 years later, she succeeded.. 20 years!!.. that is real perseverance.. so we have no reason to complain.. especially those who are studying and upholding the teachings of Islam.. Ya Allah, please give us strenght..

A Great DeStressing Activity

aaahhh stresss.. 10 subjects for the exam.. 16 books to be read.. hundreds of pages to be scanned in this brain.. its called memorising!.. aaahhh.. whatelse?.. "korang, sink kite tersumbat tau pastu dapur banjir pastu *tut* pastu *tut*".. jeng jeng jeng.. we're cool.. everything was under control (as if...).. but still, we're cool.. ok, its time to relax ourselves.. let's go to the mall.. that sounds interesting isnt it.. "elooo, ingat cairo keppe.. sini mane ade mall".. okok, let's go to the beach and enjoy the breeze.. that sounds relaxing.. "dah start angan2 kat alex lah tu.. mane ade laut kat sini..".. yeah quite true.. but then again, we could still find ourselves some activites here.. one of our destressing activities would be.. "iya tuan puan sekelian, selamat datang ke segmen masak2 pastu makan.. makan.. dan terus.. makaaan.."..

so, what did we have here.. from left to right.. scrambled egg, hot chocolates, ROTI PRATA!, sambal tumis, murtabak maggi, singapore sandwich (can see the spore flag?), roti prata telur & roti prata cheese.. "woohoo.. semaaangat.. perangai budak2 gemuk..".. this was our candlelight sahur.. yep.. it was at 3am.. the next day we really did fast.. "dah makan bebanyak pastu puase plak..".. hmmm.. did it work?.. to destress.. well.. we were happy for awhile.. a bit content.. we couldnt finish up everything.. so we gave the prata to our malaysian neighbour along with the small singapore flag on the prata.. their comment was "mmm.. sedap!".. we knew and expected that heheh.. coz the prata came from the instant prata packet brought all the way from singapore hahah.. "please lah.. sape seh sanggup nak buat prata from scratch..".. we're singaporeans here..

ok now back to The Main Activity which is.. STUDYING (cam betuuul je *winks*).. "alahai comelnye ade bear atas meja ikut kepo2 nak blajar.."..

Lessons gained from the hospital of mansoura

the environment was chaotic.. a boy was jumping on one foot trying to get to a doctor.. a man was groaning in pain, laying upside down on a hospital bed.. blood all over.. another man was dragging a half-conscious woman.. it seemed that the boy had broke a leg and he couldnt find a wheelchair for himself.. his expression was in pain but he needed attention from the doctor badly.. so he jumped on one foot to find one.. the bleeding man on the bed couldnt do much but just to wait for his turn.. and the half-unconscious woman.. i had no idea what was happening to her.. they were more people like them.. all in need of doctors.. and so was my friend.. i was accompanying her to one of the hospitals in mansoura.. it was not too chaotic when we first arrived.. we had a malaysian neighbour as a musyrif and also mama (the landlord) to accompany us.. we had a taxi driver who had a problem with his taxi's engine and couldnt get us directly infront of the hospital's entrance.. so we had to climb the high slope.. we paid him more than we should but he refused to take it coz he didnt get us to the entrance.. my friend was in so much pain that we had to find a wheelchair for her.. the ustaz got one.. the wheelchair was huge and made of iron.. so it's heavy.. with a person sitting on it, it became heavier.. we pushed her up the slope.. upon the entrance, one of the workers took over and pushed my friend over to the doctor.. mama and i went to register.. we showed her passport and got a paper with her name registered.. no payment at all.. we searched for my friend and found her not with one doctor but six altogether.. turn by turn asking her questions like "where's the pain?".. another asked "do you vomit".. so on and so forth untill all six had decided to give her a pain-killer that needed to go through her vein.. i had no idea what the doctors were saying but we just said "ooohhh aiwa".. so we were in a room with my friend having her pain-killer going through her body.. we waited and more doctors asked questions.. but this time unnecessary questions like "where do u come from?".. we said singapore.. and mama told her that we are students in kuliah dirasat.. its good to have mama around so we could just act stupid and dont need to answer anything.. another question from the doctor "do u know muhammad metawalli sya'rawi?".. dont know whether to think if its good to have a friendly doctor or not.. its just that we were not in that mood.. "somebody is sick here.. no time for friendster session.. sorry doc".. we waited and there was this very old woman beside my friend's bed.. her head was bowing very low so i couldnt get a look at her face.. but we knew that her sickness was bad but she was just keeping quiet.. no groans no complaints.. "subhanallah.. tabah".. then she called the nurse.. i saw her face.. her other eye had no eyeball but she was calm.. she called the nurse to ask for some water coz she's thirsty.. just that.."Subhanallah".. my friend was still in pain and so we went to find the previous six doctors again but this time there were too many patients.. so instead of six doctors for one patient, it became one doctor for six patients.. we waited and i had the chance to look around.. thats how i saw the jumping boy, the groaning man, the half-conscious woman.. i went further up and saw an injured man giving his cover to another injured man coz that other man needed more.. and he took it although the cover had already covered with the blood of the first man.. i wanted to see more and i strolled further up.. "ok bukan nak kepo tapi nak ambil pengajaran sikit".. "Ya Allah.. selama ini kite mensia-siakan nikmat yg ade".. this was nothing.. maybe there are worst case in other very poor countries.. how's their hospital look like.. hmmm.. thats about it.. my friend was feeling better after another jab and we went home.. i was walking with mama when she said something.. "the chaotic environment in the hospital just now reminded us of something isnt it".. "like what?".. i asked her.. "that chaos was nothing.. just imagine how it will be like when qiamat.. also in mahsyar".. i began pondering.. "yes mama, it will definitely be worst.. may Allah ease us on that day.. ameen"..

Our exco's visit to mansoura

Our kak YDPH called to inform us that the singapore excos will be coming down to mansoura for a visit.. ok first thing first.. we have to find a place for the exco banin.. mama(the landlord) didnt allow us to bring guyz in bait singapore.. she said that its inappropriate.. "but mama, we're having a meeting pertaining our welfare".. mama still said no.. so ahlu bait singapore brainstormed.. we've got an idea.. maybe we can ask the young couple living below us to provide a place for the exco banin.. they're malaysians.. such nice neighbour.. "bleh kan kak su kalau kite nak tumpangkan exco banin dan ustaz faizal layan dorang".. this part settled alhamdulillah.. next was preparation of food.. aisyah wanna cook this.. susi wanna make that.. mashi this and that.. nadia also.. thats alot.. "kiteorg nak buat majlis kenduri keppe".. at last the menu was as follows.. macroni, donut, pisang coklat, dadeh, agar2, oren.. we took all night untill the next day to prepare everything.. "ok memang dah macam rewang majlis kenduri".. quite interesting thou.. the exco arrived.. "banat silakan naik ke rumah kami dan banin silakan ke rumah makdam pakdam di bawah".. we ate together.. the exco banat with us and the exco banin had ustaz faizal, our neighbour the pakdam to sit with them.. afterwards we went to the markaz malaysia for the meeting.. so as not to create problem with our landlord.. the meeting was an informal one.. our YDPI talked, we listened and the secretary wrote.. then we talked, our YDPI listened and the secretary was still writing.. then all of us have the chance to say something.. i couldnt remember most of our conversations but thats ok coz the secretary had everything written i assumed.. all in all.. it was about "kami prihatin dengan pelajar-pelajar singapore di mansoura dan ingin mengetahui perkembangan antum sambil merapatkan silaturrahmi serta menyatakan tujuan kami kesini".. ok, thats nice.. next was their meeting with the exco DPMM.. that was it.. we really appreciate their visit.. oh yes.. the exco banin did ask if our neighbour's name is adam coz we kept on calling him pakdam.. well not exactly.. his name is ustaz faizal.. and pakdam is the initial given by the malaysians to those who are married.. it came from the wife whom we refer to as madam but they pronounce it as 'makdam'.. so they only change the 'mak' to 'pak' for the hubby.. that's how 'pakdam' came about.. a new info isnt it.. such a simple thing can also be knowledge.. rite, maybe next time they can try to ask the person's name first before calling him pak adam or ustaz adam.. :D samihuna wabarakallah feekum for the visit..

Declaring War with Cik Ti!

nice and cosy bait singapore.. all 4 of us living in peace.. suddenly we have a new-comer.. she's more like an intruder.. its not even a she.. its an 'it'.. the name's cik ti.. short and more glamour.. the full name's cik TIKUS MONDOK!.. oooppss sori aisyah for saying the name out loud.. aisyah said "tak bleh sebut name panjang cik ti pasal die tahu yg kite ngah cakap pasal die".. cool isnt it.. we've an educated rat inside our house.. ok, maybe the cousin of pinky and the brain.. so, this cik ti came into our house without invitation.. how did we sense it's presence?.. it's shits were all over the kitchen.. ok let us call it faeces coz shit is not a nice word.. it's faeces were almost like the lizards', only bigger dirtier of course and alot.. further more, susi and mashi have noticed a 'kelibat' passing.. its too fast for us to get a good look at it and to confirm its existance.. but after seeing the shits.. errrmmm.. the faeces i mean and some mess in the kitchen.. its confirmed.. we have to do something.. like what?.. we're not going to search for it eeeuuuwww.. no way, its disgusting.. ok, tell mama (the landlord).. maybe she can do something.. we told her and her expression was like "oh really?.. no big deal".. maybe no big deal to her.. maybe a trivial matter to most of the people here.. they are living with these creatures.. they dont mind the least coz they cant do much.. these creatures are everywhere.. its like a norm.. to them but not to us.. only 1 cik ti entered our house but it's enough to traumatise our lives.. its enough to make us not to enter the kitchen and to cook our meals at the hall instead.. dont say that we're exaggerating.. juz imagine what these creatures can do.. they can be clever like jerry in tom&jerry.. they can be strong too like the mighty mouse.. they can even want to rule the world like brain in pinky&the brain.. errrmmm.. ok so what if we got our facts from cartoons.. they are still traumatising our lives!!.. coz we've no experience like this in our country.. untill mama asked us "there are no rats in singapore?".. "of course there are rats in singapore but they dont live in our houses", we answered to mama's question..ok then mama understood the reason for our extreme fear.. she's so nice to get us a trap.. orite here goes.. we're gonna put some food and trap cik ti.. its not that difficult.. so, we put cheese.. juz like tom alwiz did to jerry.. but the cik ti in our house didnt want the cheese.. ok, maybe rats in egypt dont eat cheese.. what do they eat?.. qushari?.. mahshi?.. or maybe tho'miah?.. ok, that's ridiculous.. mama told us to put fish and so we put fish.. it didnt care about the fish either.. "eeeee cerewet lah plak si tikus ni".. then mama laughed at us saying that we have to fry the fish.. "What!!.. fry the fish!?!.. ni dah melampau dah ni.. dah lah cerewet, high taste lagi".. ok, we then fried the fish.. "what next?.. nak kene letak perencah kari, garam secukupnye jugak ke".. we waited again, wanting it to be trapped.. shortly after that.. uhhuh, GOT IT!.. ambik ko hahah.. ehem ehem.. i mean Alhamdulillah.. cik ti has been captured.. its already inside the trap, looking fierce.. ok, what now?.. none of us dared to carry the trap with that thing inside it.. its huge!!.. mama came to the rescue again.. she carried it away and freed it outside.. just like that?.. no way.. what if it wants revenge?.. we just couldnt help thinking with our active minds or rather active imaginations.. sure enough.. 2days later we had another break in.. "ni mesti si cik ti dulu panggil geng2 die".. this time's worst.. they made noise in the kitchen at 1am or 2am.. "waah dah berani buat pesta lagi".. we wondered, where did they come from.. we got the answer.. they bit the pipe of our toilet bowl which means they came from the sewage.. double euuuwwww.. "dah kotor, ganas somemore.. cement pon bleh pecah.. gigi jenis ape ni".. we did the same process.. took the trap, FRIED THE FISH and waited.. at last, got it.. this time, mama did somethin with the pipe.. not only cemented it but also put wires.. "kalo besi pon die bleh kunyah.. hmmm.. tak tahu ah nak cakap ape lagik..".. so that's our story morning glory.. What an experience.. The war with Cik Ti.. Hope that it doesnt happen again.. If it does, we already know what to do inshaAllah..

BlackSmellyMushroomFungus

the story goes like this.. besides bait singapore, we have another house under singapore also but only 1 singaporean lives there and the others are malaysians.. the house is nice and the landlord is kind.. what more can we ask for.. then one day zila told us that they have a problem with their house.. i thought maybe its another common problem like the water doesnt come out from the pipes or the water heater doesnt heat etc.. but the problem proved to be major.. they grew mushrooms.. not that they have planned to grow them.. The mushrooms grew by themselves on the walls.. The walls at the hall were'nt like before as though they've painted them black to make their house eerie.. ok, I've to do something to help.. these were not mere mushrooms.. we can eat mushrooms but these?.. they are called fungus or molds.. I decided to inform the landlord but they couldnt do much, saying again and again that "the house just needs ventilation and the weather causes the growth".. well yeah everybody knows that.. the ahlu bait had washed the fungus off but it kept on growing.. tiring and frustrating.. so, i searched the internet for solutions.. ok, the internet showed that.. molds are dangerous, they cannot be ignored and be left in houses coz they have effects towards the breathing system and can kill.. "wow, I love internet but i hate it when it gives out scary informations".. so what should we do then?.. ok great.. here's one solution.. it stated "buy the solution to wipe off molds online now!".. another stated "an incredible book on how to get rid of molds and fungus.. buy now!".. "great.. nilah dunia.. smue nak kene duit".. there must be somewhere.. c'mon solution, please appear.. "kasihanilah kami pelajar-pelajar yang dhaif Ya Rabb".. Alhamdulillah.. at last!.. after hours of searching.. biiznillah.. the solution!.. and also free.. it stated "use bleach to wash off molds and fungus.. then ventilate the house.. next time, use non-fungul paint for your walls.. click here to buy the paint".. at least, i can use the first two solutions without buying.. "issshh bukannye susah sgt nak blang.. nak kene pakei beli2 plak".. ok, so I asked them to try that out.. use bleach to clean then ventilate the house.. since molds are said to be dangerous and should not come in contact with the skin, i'd asked them to use gloves and masks while washing them off again.. they did that and all praise to Allah, I was told that there are no more growth.. "tamatlah riwayat mereka"..
